Scale Back Alabama
Scale Back Alabama (SBA) is a free, statewide wellness program for adults, ages 18 or older, designed to encourage Alabamians to get healthy and have fun while doing it. We caution individuals to check with their healthcare provider before beginning a new exercise or diet regimen.
Beginning in 2023, we will no longer hold the annual 10-week program. Still, SBA is available as a self-guided, self-paced program for individuals and groups who want to set and track individual goals or as part of wellness programs.

Important to Remember
Although weight loss is a goal participants may set for themselves, it is not the only goal. Practicing healthy behaviors at any weight will benefit a person’s health. Many factors affect weight, and it is important that behavior change be celebrated even when weight does not change.
Scale Back Alabama is a good fit for anyone who is ready to adopt healthier habits and looking for resources and a little guidance on how to do it. 100 Alabama Miles Challenge
The 100 Alabama Miles Challenge is a statewide program designed to inspire all Alabamians to kick-start an active, healthy lifestyle while exploring our beautiful state and connecting with fellow participants. Visit 100alabamamiles.org to start connecting with others and logging your 100 miles through our state parks and nature preserves. Though the 100 Alabama Miles Challenge is a separate program, signing up is a great way to track your progress and stay motivated to meet your physical activity goals.
