Alabama Wellness Initiatives
100 Alabama Miles Challenge – Alabamians are challenged to log 100 miles of physical activity each year. You can also create teams and compete with friends, family, and co-workers who are taking the challenge. Visit the website to sign up.
Live Well Alabama – An adult and childhood obesity prevention and nutrition education initiative that includes social marketing campaigns and policy, system, and environmental change strategies for the SNAP-Ed population.
Alabama Wellness Forum – A program to provide education and networking opportunities for wellness and human resource practitioners who are interested in building and maintaining worksite wellness programs. The meetings provide information to assist employers in providing effective and innovative programs that will improve the health and wellbeing of their workforce. Healthy Vending – Healthy options in vending machines can assist with leading a healthier lifestyle. This program was developed to increase access to healthier foods and beverages in worksites and other locations.
Healthy Checkout Program – Identifies and prompts individuals to make healthier choices in venues selling food and beverages.
Walk Audit – Safe and walkable streets can help increase physical activity opportunities in a community. A walk audit allows for a group of community members to observe and evaluate the walkability of a location. Learn more about conducting a walk.
